LOCATION
A yoga retreat in Pokhara offers the perfect blend of physical and spiritual rejuvenation. Pokhara is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, providing a serene and picturesque setting for practicing yoga and meditation. In addition to the yoga practice, there are also opportunities to explore the natural beauty of Pokhara, such as hiking in the surrounding mountains and visiting nearby temples and lakes. The retreat is a great way to deepen your yoga practice, connect with like-minded individuals, and unwind in a truly breathtaking setting.
Our retreat center is located on a slope above Pokhara Lakeside, offering a magnificent view of Phewa Lake and the surrounding countryside. It’s far enough to never be disturbed by the noise or the crowds but close enough to explore the restaurants, cafes, shops, and the local culture. Hiring a boat to cross to the other side of the lake or just to enjoy the tranquility of the water is one of the most popular activities. And nobody should miss a visit to the Peace Pagoda, which is not only a beautiful piece of architecture in itself but provides a stunning panoramic view of the snowy Himalayan mountain peaks. For the courageous ones, there is also a possibility of paragliding. November is the best time to visit Nepal, with clear skies, mild temperatures, and almost no instances of rain. This is also the month of many religious festivals, and this year Tihar (the festival of lights) is happening just two days before the retreat starts. |
YOGA & MEDITATION
We will practice yoga and meditation twice daily, in the morning and afternoon, in a beautiful yoga hall overlooking the hills and the lake. The classes will be 90 mins long and will focus on different aspects of the practice, both physical and spiritual. Marija teaches gentle Hatha yoga, with a lot of emphasis on body awareness and mindful movement, as well as on the physical alignment, breath, and focus.
The topic of this retreat is Just Be and throughout our practice, we will explore and investigate the possibility that we can just be without the need to alter or enhance anything in ourselves or others. Our allies in this exploration will be our breath, conscious movement, and our power of (self) observation. There will also be an opportunity to explore some complementary practices, like gong baths and fire ceremonies, or to have a consultation with an Ayurvedic practitioner. The retreat is suitable for all levels of yoga, and all classes, as well as any other activities, are always optional. |
PROGRAM
Mornings are reserved for our practice, which will usually take around 90mins. We'll have an early start, and after the class, we will have a freshy prepared brunch.
Afternoons offer an array of possibilities. You are always free to take things easy - enjoy a quiet afternoon in our beautiful garden, head down into town to chill by the lake or explore one of the cool cafes. We also offer several hikes to visit local temples, villages, and enjoy the view of the lake and the Himalayas. For the real adventurers, we can organize tandem paragliding for you in one of the world's most beautiful paragliding spots. Evenings will see us back in the center, having another shorter class (1 hour) before delicious home cooked dinner around 7.00 PM. After dinner, there is free time for everybody. Depending on the interest of the group, we can substitute the evening class for a sound healing sessions, fire ceremony, or a lecture in yoga philosophy. We will be at the source of yogic teachings, so the options to deepen our practice will be many. All activities and classes are optional, and everybody is welcome to skip any of them any time they feel like it. |

STAY
We will spend 5 nights in a beautiful newly open yoga center in a beautiful natural setting. Close enough to town to explore the buzz and the local culture but far enough to have peace and quiet.
You can choose between sharing a twin room (two single beds) with another guest or have the entire room to yourself. Each room has an en-suite bathroom. The yoga center has a beautiful spacious yoga hall with a stunning view and all the necessary equipment. There is also a beautiful garden with lush tropical greenery and several common terraces with stunning views over the lake. If you are planning a longer stay in Nepal and need recommendations or any help with organizing your travels, don’t hesitate to get in touch. |
FOOD
Two vegetarian meals per day are included in the price of the retreat.
The food at the retreat will be freshly prepared traditional vegetarian Nepalese food made up of local organic ingredients - vegetables, rice, legumes, fruits. Breakfast will be mostly in the "Western" style, and at dinner time, you'll have the opportunity to enjoy the delicacies of the Nepalese cuisine If you have any special dietary requirements (vegan, gluten free, etc.) please make sure to discuss it with us prior to booking. We'll try to accommodate everybody, but it is essential that you mention it before booking. |
GETTING THERE
The only international airport in Nepal is in the capital, Kathmandu.
The meeting point for the beginning of this trip is Pokhara and once you are in Pokhara, you can easily take a taxi to reach the retreat center.
You can reach Pokhara from Kathmandu by a short flight, a bus ride, or you can hire a private car to take you. Please plan to arrive to Pokhara at least one day before the beginning of the retreat, as delays in both flights and bus rides are quite common.
