LOCATION
Stolac, nestled in the picturesque landscape of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stands as a testament to the exquisite beauty and profound heritage that graces the region. The town's charm lies in its unique blend of natural splendor and historical significance. Surrounded by lush greenery and framed by the Bregava River, Stolac offers a mesmerizing panorama that captivates visitors. Beyond its scenic allure, Stolac is a treasure trove of cultural heritage, with its well-preserved medieval architecture, ancient stone bridges, and Ottoman-era buildings. The iconic Radimlja necropolis, adorned with intricately carved stećak tombstones, serves as a poignant reminder of Stolac's rich past. The fusion of diverse influences, from Illyrian and Roman roots to Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian legacies, creates a tapestry of history that unfolds in the cobblestone streets and historic structures. Solac is two hours away from Dubrovnik and Split airports and two and a half hours away from Sarajevo airport. |
YOGA & MEDITATION
On most days, you will practice two times a day on a soft grassy meadow next to the pristine Bregava river. In case of bad weather, we will have indoor space to practice.
Marija teaches Hatha yoga, focusing on mindful movement, body awareness and the proper alignment, rather than on achieving certain postures. The primary aim of these classes is to gain a better understanding of your body and of the underlying principles of yoga and meditation practice. Apart from asana (posture), we practice pranayama (breathing), as well as meditation in each class. The classes are organized as workshops, during which we will explore different physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the practice. To read more about Marija and her teaching style, click here. The retreat is suitable for all levels. Beginners will have the chance to get the taste of yoga and build a strong foundation for their yogic journey. More experienced yogis will deepen their understanding and get some inspiration to further develop their practice. |
PROGRAM
You will start each day with a 90-minute class - asana practice (yoga postures), organic movement, breath work and guided meditation are all integrated within this class.
Breakfast is served after the class. Afternoons are filled with various activities: * exploring the many small beaches and hidden waterfalls along Bregava River, all within walking distance from our accommodation * visiting the nearby medieval Bogumil cemetery, part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, medieval fortress located on the hill above the center of the town, or the remains or the Iron Age town * Making a day trip to Mostar and a day trip to Trebinje * Visiting Istup waterfall and river pools Evenings will see you back in the center, having another shorter class (1 hour long) before a delicious home cooked dinner served around 7.00 PM. |

STAY
You will be staying in the center of Stolac town, in a historic stone house built in the 19th century, still preserving its old charm.
The house has five large rooms and each room is to be shared by either three or four guests. The rooms don't have private bathrooms, but the entire house has four shared bathrooms. There are also two balconies and a small cozy garden behind the house, perfect for lazy afternoons with a book or your favorite playlist. The house is very close to several small cafes and restaurants in the center of town, as well as to a few grocery stores in case you get hungry during the day. The accommodation is shared and simple, but very cozy and authentic and I am sure you will enjoy immensely the atmosphere of this authentic place, which is truly one of a kind. |
FOOD
We'll have two buffet-style meals a day - brunch and dinner will be served as full hearty meals.
The meals will be freshly prepared by our fabulous chef, made up mostly of local ingredients - local honey, fruits and vegetables, dairy. As we will mostly be out and about during lunch time, we can have a bite to eat in a restaurant or you can bring your own snacks. There are several small shops in Stolac, where you can buy a good selection of local fruits, vegetables, and less healthy snacks. If you have some specific dietary requirements (e.g. gluten free, vegan, etc.), I suggest you bring some of your own snacks just in case. All the meals at the retreat will be vegetarian. If you have specific dietary requirements (e.g. vegan, gluten-free, etc.), please communicate that with us beforehand. We will do our best to cater to all of your dietary needs, but we do need to know about them beforehand. |
