LOCATION
This week, we will explore the area of Gocek Bay, a protected natural reserve dotted with tiny islands, some of which bear archaeological remains of distant civilizations. May is a great time to visit this area, with mild temperatures and lush growth on the islands.
The area is perfect for a week-long retreat as it offers both the opportunity to enjoy and relax on our beautiful 30m long boat and be active and enjoy our daily hikes to spectacular viewpoints and archaeological sites, which we will have all for ourselves. Although the beauty of this area can certainly match any of the other more well-known Turkish sailing routes, fortunately, it is still not overcrowded with tourists. We will sail out of Fethiye, and the closest airport is in Dalaman, just half an hour away. |
YOGA & MEDITATION
We will practice yoga twice daily on one of our two decks. It is a unique experience to do yoga surrounded by the sea and lush green islands. The waters are still since we are cruising in a big bay, so there is no need to worry about getting wobbly or seasick.
Marija teaches Hatha yoga, focusing on mindful movement, body awareness, and proper alignment rather than on achieving specific postures. The primary aim of these classes is to better understand your body and the underlying principles of yoga and meditation practice. Apart from asana (posture), we practice pranayama (breathing) and meditation in each class. The classes are organized as workshops, during which we will explore the different physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the practice. To read more about Marija and her teaching style, click here. The retreat is suitable for all levels. Beginners will have the chance to get a taste of yoga and build a strong foundation for their yogic journey. More experienced yogis will deepen their understanding and get some inspiration to further develop their practice. |
PROGRAM
We will start our morning with an invigorating yoga class, 90 minutes long. Of course, having a morning dip in before and/or after the class is always readily available! After the class, we will enjoy a well-deserved fresh, delicious brunch.
After yoga and food, we usually cruise these pristine waters in search of the next spectacular bay to explore. Once we reach our new destination, we set out for our daily hike. All the hikes are accessible to everyone with an average fitness level. Most of the walks include visiting an archaeological site and a spectacular view. Some also offer a unique opportunity to meet some of the very few locals who live on these islands. After the hike, we take some time to rest, swim, snorkel, have a light lunch, and simply appreciate our luck to be in such pristine beauty. We finish the daily activities with another hour-long yoga class, followed by a mouth-watering dinner. Our activities may be finished, but the beauty is never-ending here - being away from any settlement, the views of the night sky are simply spectacular! |

STAY
This week, our floating home/yoga studio will be Seaborn Legend, a 27 meter-long wooden gullet with 8 cabins, 2 sunny decks, an indoor and outdoor dining area, and the friendliest crew in the Aegean.
Each cabin has an en-suite bathroom and an AC. We have cabins both with double beds and twin beds. There is plenty of lounging space on the decks with enough sunbeds for everybody. Our floating house also has a canoe, SUP board, and some snorkeling gear. |
FOOD
We’ll have three freshly prepared meals per day. Our crew prepares all the food on the spot, mainly using fresh local ingredients. The food served in this retreat will be vegetarian, with some options for seafood for those who choose to eat it.
We’ll be serving traditional Turkish and Mediterranean dishes, nutritionally balanced, to support our practice and other activities on board. I can confidently say this will be the best Turkish food you have ever tried. The retreat’s price includes all the food, unlimited coffee, tea, and drinking water. Please let us know if you have any other dietary requirements (vegan, gluten-free, etc.) before booking. We always try to accommodate everybody, but that might not always be possible. |
