LOCATION
The location of this retreat is truly a jack pot both for sea lovers and for mountain lovers. The beautiful Mahakala Yoga Center is located on a green hill, less than a kilometre away from Buljarice beach - one of the last unspoiled wild beaches in Montenegro.
Podgorica Airport is merely 45mins away. Incredibly scenic Old Town of Kotor is less than an hour away. Skadar Lake National Park is only half an hour away and we will explore some parts of it on a kayaking day trip. The area offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, exploring local history, and enjoying the off-season peace and quiet of the Adriatic coast. |
YOGA & MEDITATION
On most days, you will practice two times a day on a soft grassy meadow next to your accommodation.
Marija teaches Hatha yoga, focusing on mindful movement, body awareness and the proper alignment, rather than on achieving certain postures. The primary aim of these classes is to gain a better understanding of your body and of the underlying principles of yoga and meditation practice. Apart from asana (posture), we practice pranayama (breathing), as well as meditation in each class. The classes are organized as workshops, during which we will explore different physical, mental and spiritual aspects of the practice. To read more about Marija and her teaching style, click here. The retreat is suitable for all levels. Beginners will have the chance to get the taste of yoga and build a strong foundation for their yogic journey. More experienced yogis will deepen their understanding and get some inspiration to further develop their practice. |
PROGRAM
You will start each day with a two-hour class - asana practice (yoga postures), organic free movement, breath work and guided meditation are all integrated within this class.
Breakfast is served after the class. Afternoons are filled with various activities: * hiking through the surrounding hills to enjoy majestic views of the Adriatic coast and explore nearby streams and river pools. * visiting the fascinating old town of Kotor, enjoying its narrow cobbled streets, Venetian architecture and breath taking views of Kotor Bay * kayaking or joining a boat ride in Skadar Lake National Park, visiting ruins of old prison, bird watching, swimming * swimming in Adriatic Sea Evenings will see you back in the center, having another shorter class (1-1.5 hours) before delicious home cooked dinner served around 7.00 PM. |

ACCOMMODATION
You will be staying in Mahakala Yoga Center.
The center is an ecologically built villa located in a village between mountains, along with a breathtaking view of the Adriatic sea. The villa combines the best of both worlds; comfort in the midst of nature. The Eco Retreat is surrounded by various walking trails, in a village on top of a steep hill and takes about 15/20 min walk to our local beach. Mahakala Eco Retreat has a yoga studio, spacious outdoor terraces, jacuzzi and spa with an infrared sauna, plant-based restaurant and rooms with stunning sea views to soothe the soul. You have several accommodation options to choose from: a bed in a 4-bed dorm is a budget friendly option. If you want to have your privacy, we also offer single and double or twin rooms. |
FOOD
We serve homemade vegan food and our recipes are created by Dr Lemm who specializes in nutritional therapy. Both the brunch and dinner will be made of fresh seasonal ingredients, giving you a chance to experience how nutrition can boost your energy and mood.
We use intermittent fasting program, which means we serve two nutritional meals per day. The benefits of intermittent fasting include improved brain function, better digestion, skin and immune system as well as weight loss in the long term. If you have any specific dietary requirements, please communicate that with us prior to booking, and we will do our best to cater to your needs. |
