Practise where the world still feels wild

Small groups. Two classes a day. Mountains, rivers and old stone villages far from the tourist trail — Spain, Sicily, Bosnia, Serbia, Georgia, Macedonia and the Himalayas.

Who we are

Yoga holidays that are actually adventures

My Yogic Adventure takes small groups to beautiful natural places, away from the big tourist centres — and pairs a serious daily practice with the kind of days you'd travel for anyway: hikes, wild rivers, ancient towns, boat rides, long meals made from what grows nearby.

Every retreat is suitable for all levels. Beginners build a foundation; experienced yogis go deeper. Everything on the schedule is optional — including the schedule.

MYA is a project created by Marija, with the help of a few friends, out of a shared impulse to share knowledge, spread happiness, and explore the world.

01

Two classes a day

Hatha yoga with elements of Iyengar and Vinyasa — mindful movement, alignment, pranayama and a guided sitting meditation in every class.

02

Real places

A 19th-century stone house in Stolac, a family lodge under Mount Ushba, a villa at the edge of Sierra de Tejeda. Never a resort.

03

Small groups

Usually under a dozen guests, so the teaching stays personal and the group actually becomes a group.

04

Food worth the trip

Two freshly prepared vegetarian meals a day, cooked on site from local ingredients. Vegan and gluten-free catered for on request.

The rhythm

What a day
looks like

Mornings are for practice, afternoons for the place we're in, evenings for winding down. Nothing is compulsory — plenty of guests skip an afternoon to read in a hammock, and that's rather the point.

Times shift a little from retreat to retreat, but the shape stays the same.

  • 7.30 — 9.0090 minutes: asana, breath work and guided meditation. Usually outside.
  • 9.30Full, hearty, buffet style. Freshly made, mostly local ingredients.
  • 11.00A hike, a river, an old town, a boat, a market — or nothing at all.
  • 18.00 — 19.00A shorter, gentler hour to unwind the body after the afternoon.
  • 19.30Long table, no phones in particular, and then the evening is yours.

Marija

"To touch the essence of asana practice is to move mindfully, to develop body awareness, and to learn to listen to our bodies with kindness."

Marija started practising as a university student and has learned from teachers in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the USA, Turkey and Serbia. She teaches Hatha yoga infused with elements of Iyengar and Vinyasa Flow, with an emphasis on alignment, breathing and focus — the aim being a safe, sustainable personal practice rather than any particular shape.

She invites students to come to class playfully and without taking themselves too seriously: to observe the stretch, the thoughts, the changes, and see what works for them on that day.

In their words

Guests from all over the world

I came here to have a holiday and I really feel that I am going home a better person. What my body learned was amazing — but what my mind learned was the best part.

None of the beautiful pictures could convey the feeling of breathing the fresh air between the trees and doing sun salutations on a misty morning. Marija is a warm, dedicated teacher.

A great balance of intense yoga but enough free time to recuperate. Some of the views on the hikes literally took my breath away. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

New retreats, first

A short letter a few times a year — new dates, early-bird places and the occasional photograph from somewhere far away. Nothing else.
